Do you struggle to find time for the things you love?

Do you ever struggle to find time for the things you're passionate about? I know I do.

I recently published my first Youtube video in some time and I think you could find some value in it. Its less than 8 minutes long and includes some behind the scenes art goodness.

You can also read a succinct overview of what I share in the video by reading below...

In this newsletter, I'm sharing 3 ways you can carve out more time for your hobbies or other things you care about.

1. Prioritize and Schedule What Matters Most

It's easy to let life get in the way of our passions. But if we want to make time for them, we need to be intentional about it.

One way to do this is to prioritize and schedule what matters most. This means making time for your hobbies in your schedule, just like you would any other important appointment.

For example, I used to work out at the gym in the middle of the day. This allowed me to get my workout in without sacrificing time with my family.

When I wanted to create art consistently, I started scheduling "art workouts" for myself. I would wake up early on my days off and spend a few hours in my studio.

2. Embrace Constraints

Constraints can actually help us be more creative. When we have limitations, we're forced to think outside the box and come up with new ideas.

For example, I participated in Inktober a few years ago. The constraint was simple: one ink drawing every day in October, inspired by a daily word prompt.

I didn't think I'd finish all 31 days, but I did! The constraint pushed me to be creative and resourceful.

3. Break Projects Down into Smaller Tasks

Big projects can feel overwhelming. But if we break them down into smaller tasks, they become much more manageable.

For example, let's say you want to repaint a room. This can seem like a daunting task. But if you break it down into smaller steps, it becomes much more manageable.

  • Research tools used for painting rooms
  • Make a list of tools you need
  • Compare prices of tools and decide where to buy or borrow them
  • Purchase or borrow tools

Now, each task is bite-sized and actionable. You can chip away at them without feeling overwhelmed.

I hope these tips help you make more time for your art or hobbies. If you try any of them, let me know how they work for you!

Until next time, happy creating!
