Collection: Imprints of Sensation
In this art collection, each piece serves as a unique imprint of emotion, experience, and the tactile world. Created using a sensory ball and Arches hot-pressed watercolor paper, the art represents both limitations and boundless possibilities.
As I swiftly apply paint to the sensory ball, the clock races against me; the paint must not dry. The act is immediate, almost instinctual. Then comes the moment of truth—stamping the ball onto the paper. The composition is never predetermined; it emerges as the ball meets the surface, leaving behind an imprint that is as unique and unpredictable as human experience itself.
The inspiration for this collection comes from a personal place—my son's sensory processing issues. He, like many children with similar challenges, appears no different from any other child, but navigating the world is a unique puzzle for him. The textures he encounters can either be a point of discomfort or a pathway to understanding his environment. Sensory tools like balls and putty have been crucial in helping him adapt and engage with the world around him.
In much the same way, this collection is about entering the unknown within the constraints of material and time. Each piece serves as a dialogue between control and chaos, reflecting the ongoing effort to find balance, much like the daily efforts to help my son navigate his sensory landscape.
